UEBS is accredited by EQUIS and AMBA. Some selected rankings are shown below:
UEBS typically admits only around 70 people per program for the MSc and roughly 60 for the MBA program.[5]
UEBS's alumni network numbers around 4000 members [6].
One common method for alumni outreach is the Entrepreneurship Club (E-Club for short). The Entrepreneurship Club is a gathering of students, researchers, and successful entrepreneurs. The club puts on a number of events, including the Silicon Valley Speaker series, in collaboration with The Edinburgh-Stanford link (in collaboration with The School of Informatics), at which leading entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from the Valley come to provide advice and insights into their areas of activity.
UEBS's international MBA faculty has ties with other leading business schools including:
The advisory board steers the direction of the school.[7]
The Edinburgh MBA [8] has been taught for over 25 years and is designed to develop participants as leaders and team players in a multicultural context. The program consists of eight core subjects, taught in the first semester, followed by five options from a choice of around 40, allowing for specialization across a wide range of areas.
Here are the full-time MBA programs offered at UEBS:
Students on the 12 month course undertake a consultancy project called "The Lothians Consultancy Project" with a corporation and then complete their dissertations. The 12-month program is also available as a modular MBA and can be taken over a period of up to 48 months.[9]
9 foundation courses are provided including an Leadership and Professional Development (LPD) program with weekly sessions and special activities in the sixth week. The foundation courses are followed immediately by a Strategic Management course over 1 week. At the end of Semester 1 there are required degree examinations.
During Semester 2a students take the core course in Corporate Strategy and 3 option courses, selected from either day-time courses or evening courses, as well as the compulsory Integrative Project. In Semester 2a, the daytime option courses run over 9 weeks of 2-hour sessions, followed by degree exams. The evening options run over 9 weeks (with the examination, if applicable, taking place in the 10th week). At the end of Semester 2a students leave Edinburgh to take their options at a partner institution.
Work placement period for International Program (see below). The work placement is related to the final project (called Capstone Project), which allows students to gain experience living abroad.
Students are required to complete a final project before graduation.
Students on the MBA in International Business program (15 month) spend the period from April to June studying options at one of the School’s international partners and then undertake an international work placement before completing their dissertations.[10]
Taught in the evenings, this program allows individuals in the local area to undertake an MBA while working.[11]
